Laurent
'Beet' Beauvallet ( France, 1974 ) is a freelance artist. He creates concept art for the entertainement industry, illustrations and book covers for publishing companies ( Hachette, Seuil )
Straight
out of a year at the beaux-arts, he got his first job in the videogame
industry with French developer Kalisto ; he notably contributed game
concept, concept art, in-game art, character design, 3D characters on titles
such as "Nightmare creatures", an international best-seller
on the original Playstation.
He moved to England, and honed his skills while working
for Psygnosis and Core-Design. As a concept artist, he joined
Toby Gard's Confounding Factor to work on the game "Galleon".
He started working as a freelance illustrateur in 1999 ; He quickly produced illustrations for many
collectable card / role-playing games, on such titles as "Legend of
the Five Rings", "Everquest", "Warhammer40K" or "Star
Wars".
He has since painted hundreds of images for every major companies of
the Role-playing world (Wizards of the Coast) and is often commissioned
to create concept and production art by leading videogame companies such as
Ubisoft or Midway, on next-generation projects like Ninja theory's
"Heavenly Sword".
His images are seen in "Spectrum, The Best in Contemporary Fantasy
Art", in industry magazines, on cover of books and videogames.
He likes to travel and bike, to trek and climb, and these peregrinations often leads to the works he presents on his blog. He currently lives in Bordeaux, France.
An experienced character and creature designer, he use his strong painting skills
to create all kind of concept and production images.
